3 Essential Tips for Beautiful Skin

Beauty is not just skin deep; it comes from within. Your skin can be a direct reflection of your health. Breakouts, clogged pores, and dehydrated skin can indicate that you’re not living the healthiest lifestyle.

There’s no need to shell out thousands of dollars on expensive products, professional treatments, and masks. There are some very simple changes you can make to your lifestyle that can significantly impact your skin’s overall health and appearance.

A radiant complexion doesn’t have to be a dream anymore. Here are three of the most important things you can do to secure not only your health but beautiful skin.

Drink more water!

Look, we get it – you’ve heard it over and over again! But don’t brush this piece of advice aside. There’s a reason why you’ve heard this advice constantly!

Did you know that up to 60% of the human body is composed of water? Even more intriguing – the skin, which is the body’s largest organ, is composed of 73% of water.

Water is essential to survival, and without it, the body can’t function properly. It encourages the body’s cells to grow and reproduce, flushes waste out of our system, and helps deliver oxygen to our cells.

If you don’t drink enough water, it can cause your skin to dry out. Parched skin will try to compensate for dehydration by producing more sebum. This excess oil can exacerbate skin issues and encourage bacterial growth on the skin.  This excess sebum oil leads to – you guessed it – more breakouts!

Hate the taste of water? Try adding slices of fresh lemon, mint, or berries into the glass. The flavors will naturally infuse into the water, adding a more flavorful taste and a bonus boost of vitamins and antioxidants.

Drink up, babe. Your skin will thank you!

Put the junk food down!

You are what you eat! The key to a healthy body, boundless energy, and happy skin is maintaining a balanced diet! A diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, and protein will provide your body with the basic building blocks it needs to fuel and repair itself.

Foods with a high glycemic index, such as processed and refined carbohydrates, can cause inflammation, leading to unexpected acne! Dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese can further aggravate existing breakouts!

It’s essential to pay attention to your skin! We recommend keeping a food diary so that you can identify correlations between what you eat and its effects on your skin.

Now, we’re not saying that you must cut everything out! You can still enjoy your favorite foods, sweets, and snacks as long as it’s done in moderation!

Turn in early!

Getting enough rest is essential to both your mental and physical well-being. If you’re not getting enough sleep, its effects can manifest physically in the form of breakouts, dark circles, and dullness!

While we sleep, our body works hard to repair itself by creating new cells. Not getting enough sleep impedes this regeneration cycle and can lead to a reduction in the formation of collagen and reduce blood flow to the skin.

Going for long periods without restful sleep can also result in a surge of stress levels! Not only is stress, but it can also lead to abnormalities within the skin structure and its overall function.

Try to turn in early when you’re feeling run down! Not only will your skin thank you, but your body and mind will be more equipped to take on another busy day!

Take care of yourself!

While these three tips are not the end all be all to your skincare concerns, they are an essential starting point to create optimal health!

Remember, beauty starts from within. So, take care of yourself!
